No Cooling Off For Ice Cream Franchise

From The Sydney Morning Herald: "Global ice-cream chain Baskin-Robbins says the demise of its Australian franchise holder has enabled it to take a hands-on approach to tapping into a "fabulous ice-cream market....

"The ice-cream franchise has ambitious growth plans for Australia, where it has so far failed to capture as much of the market as in the other 38 countries it operates.

"It's a fabulous ice-cream market," Mr Kumar said of Australia."There's warm weather right though the year, people are outdoorsy, they love the beaches. Ice-cream goes very well with that. And Australia is a very well developed franchise market."

There are 88 Baskin-Robbins stores across the country, and Mr Kumar said that number should one day match or better the 200 stores currently operating in Indonesia."

16% profit growth for Pizza Franchise

Domino’s, one of the world’s largest pizza franchise opportunities, has recorded a growth of 16% for the year 2009-2010. The company was pleased to announce that the net profit rose from $15.4 million to $17.8 million in one year’s time.

The fast food franchise, which is based in Queensland, is convinced that this growth will continue over the year 2010-2011, with an expected increase of 10-15%. The iPhone App, which was launched in November 2009, should definitely help to increase sales; it attracted over $2 million in sales in the first 3 months alone. The company has also been upgrading its menus and store layouts, adding a popular new sandwich range called Oven Baked Sandwiches.

Don Meij, Domino’s chief executive, commented: ‘‘Our solid performance for the 2010 full year is the result of strong network sales growth up 5.6 per cent in Australia and New Zealand while Europe experienced solid growth up 14.3 per cent on the corresponding period last year. In Australia, our continued focus on the online side of our business also contributed to these results. Our online ordering, which includes orders placed through our highly-successful iPhone app, is advancing and we are seeing great growth.’’

Domino’s opened 13 new stores in Australia and New Zealand last year; worldwide the restaurant business opportunity currently owns 825 outlets. Over the next decade the plan is to grow the number of European restaurants from 300 to 1000. In Australia is food franchise is hoping to open another 70 outlets over the next 3 years.

Burger Franchise expands in Sydney

Fast food business opportunity Grill’d will be opening two new restaurants before the end of this month. Both outlets will be located in Darlinghurst’s prime areas: Victoria Street and Crown Street.

The franchise recently introduced some new dishes that will hopefully be successful in the new outlets. Meatlovers will be able to enjoy the brand-new selection of Steak Sandwiches, while calorie-conscious customers can now choose between four deliciously fresh salads, including a vegetarian option.  And for those who feel more like a snack rather than a whole meal, ‘Mini Moo’ snack burgers are very likely to sort them out.

The Crown Street restaurant is company owned, but the Victoria Street restaurant, which will be larger, is going to be run by franchisees. Simon Crowe, the founder of the  , commented: “While Crown Street will have more of a corner-shop feel and Victoria Street will be more modern, both venues will have friendly Grill’d staff focused on making burgers to order that taste good and do you good.”
